The Year of the Snake, heralds a time of celebration, renewal, and family togetherness. There are several customs observed during the 15 days of Chinese New Year. These include exchanging red packets (angbao) to share blessings and good fortune, and decorating homes with red lanterns and symbols of prosperity. Festivities include reunion meals featuring auspicious foods like fish (Abundance), spring rolls (New Beginnings), shrimp (Good Luck), and Tang Yuan (Reunion).

The Chingay Parade, tracing its origins to the Song Dynasty where it was meant to ward off evil spirits and bring prosperity, remains a highlight of the festivities. Singapore's first Chingay Parade in 1973 has over time evolved into a spectacular cultural event, celebrating the vibrant spirit of the Lunar New Year.

As a time to honour heritage and strengthen bonds, Chinese New Year 2025 promises a joyful start to a prosperous and harmonious year.
