The Mid-Autumn Festival in 2024, celebrated on September 17th, is a cherished event that brings families together to appreciate the full moon and enjoy festive traditions. The way this festival is appreciated differs from country to country. China features an array of things to do during this season, including the Moon Appreciation Route at the foot of Moon Hill in Guilin, where people one can see the bright full moon gradually turning into a narrow crescent and then turns back to admire the full moon and participate in cultural activities. In Japan, the festival is known as Tsukimi or "moon-viewing," where people enjoy seasonal foods like dango (glutinous rice flour dumplings) and celebrate with poetry and contemplation of the moon. In South Korea, Chuseok is celebrated with family gatherings, ancestral rituals, and the preparation of traditional foods like songpyeon, rice cakes filled with sweet fillings, making each country's celebration unique and deeply rooted in their cultural traditions. Places like Singapore, China, and Vietnam, the Mid-Autumn Festival includes lion dances, parades, and community celebrations, reflecting rich cultural heritage and fostering a sense of unity.
