Well known as a delicacy eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, mooncakes are often eaten together with family, or presented to friends and relatives as gifts to express love and best wishes.
Named after the moon goddess, the roundness of the Chinese pastry symbolizes completeness and togetherness and were served as offerings to the moon during the ancient times. However, this is only one interesting fact about the legend of the symbolic pastry.
As time passes, more varieties of mooncake are starting to emerge due to different local eating culture and tradition. The once symbolic round pastry now comes in different shapes accompanied by a wider selection of flavours.
